- Stomach 36 is located below the knee, 3 cun inferior to Stomach 35, one finger breadth lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia.
Stomach 36 Needling
- To needle Stomach 36, use an oblique or perpendicular insertion to a maximum depth of 0.5 cun.
Stomach 36 TCM Theory
Stomach 36 is the He-sea point of the Stomach channel.
He-Sea points are where the Qi of the Channel enters a deeper level to communicate with its related organ and are located at or near the elbows and knees.
He-Sea points are used to:
- Treat rebellious Qi, diarrhoea and skin diseases that involve Heat.
- Address issues with the Yang Organs and Channels.
Stomach 36 is also the Earth point of the Stomach channel and can be used to treat conditions of Damp and Phlegm affecting the Stomach and the Stomach channel.
The main TCM actions of Stomach 36 are:
- It benefits the Stomach for all Stomach disorders.
- It benefits the Spleen for all Spleen disorders.
- It tonifies Qi for all Qi deficiency conditions.
- It clears Cold for Cold Bi conditions.
