- Bladder 60 is located mid-way between the highest point of the external malleolus and the Achilles tendon.

- To needle Bladder 60, use a perpendicular (90 degrees) insertion, to a depth of 0.5 cun.
Bladder 60 TCM Theory
Bladder 60 is the Jing River point of the Bladder channel.
Jing-River points are where the Qi of the Channel begins to flow more heavily and are located on the forearm and lower leg.
Jing-River points are used to:
- Treat cough, fever and chills caused by External Pathogenic Factors.
- Treat disorders of the local muscles, tendons, bones and joints.
Bladder 60 is also the Fire point of the Bladder channel.
As a Fire point, Bladder 60 is able to clear excess Heat, Fire and excess Yang.
Because of this strong action on moving and draining or pulling down excess Yang, Bladder 60 is contraindicated in pregnancy.
The main TCM actions of Bladder 60 are:
- To move blood in cases of menstrual pain due to Blood stagnation.
- To expedite labour in cases of difficult delivery.
- As a local point to move the channel in cases of pain in the head, neck, lower back, leg and heel.
